Out of State Speeding Ticket in Florida for a Illinois Driving License

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Florida.

Hi,

I was recently in Florida for a family vacation and was pulled over by the cop for doing 69 mph in a 60 mph zone. The county is Osceola County near to Orlando, FL. I hold a Illinois Driving License, I am ready to pay the fine to the Florida DMV and do the 4 hour online Traffic school offered in Florida counties. but my question is how does this effect my Illinois driving license and will it increase by Insurance. Please advise.

If you elect the driving school, you are going for what is called a "withheld adjudication." This means that you have not been determined guilty or not guilty. Most states require the infraction to have been found committed or found guilty in order for it to be placed onto a driver's record. Because you have not been found either, the FL DHSMV will not enter it onto the National Driver Register, and your home state should never learn about it.

Key word there is should. You'd be surprised on how often court clerks will report something wrong. BUT, It certainly can't hurt you to go for traffic school. If I were you and I wasn't returning anytime within the next 3-6 months, I'd go for the withheld adjudication.
