Default Getting Married Before 18 While Receiving Survivers Checks

my father passed away before I turned 2 , ever since then I was recieving social security checks from my dad. When I turned 16 I had my first child and im 17 now to my understanding I stop getting checks when I turn 18 . If I get married at 17 would I still be able to recieve the checks ?

Nope. If you married at the age of 17 (with judicial or parental permission, of course) you would in most if not all states be considered emancipated, and as an emancipated minor you would no longer be considered a dependent minor. If you're not a dependent minor, you don't get checks based on that status.

    Can't have it both ways.
