My question involves criminal law for the state of: COSTA RICA/ US
My brother was convicted of a crime in the United States 1996, he was charged with the following:
2ND DEG.MURD,DANGEROUS ACT
BURGLARY,ARMED W/EXP. OR WEAPO
ROBB. GUN/DEADLY WPN(ATTEMPTED)
We are all American Citizens, except for my brother because he was incarcerated at the time of submitting applications, so he of course was denied.
After serving his time my brother will be deported to El Salvador, his release date is set for 2014.
My question is:
My brother would like to seek a permanent residency status in Costa Rica, will he be able to become a resident of Costa Rica? or will he be denied entry to Costa Rica due to his criminal record?
Both his parents are US citizens though, so is there any way that they can seek permanent residency in Costa Rica first and then claim him regardless of his past?
I want the best for my brother and I want to inform myself on what can be done.
Thank you very very much,
any advice is greatly cherished!
