Default Judgement Not Showing Up on Credit Report Any More

My question involves judgment recovery in the State of:Alabama

Sometime ago I asked legal aid in my area and was told judgements last 10 yrs and can be renewed for another 10. I recently applied for overdraft protection and nothing was on my credit report. Does that mean the judgements aren't there anymore? I'm asking this because my mother wants to sell me a car and I want to put it in my name. I'm on ssi so I want to get a disabled tag for it. but I am afraid they will take the car. I tried calling legal aid but this time they weren't very helpful. If someone can help I'd appreciate it very much.

    thank you

If you want to know what is on your credit report, order a copy. If you are looking at a credit report from a particular credit reporting agency and it does not include the judgment, then that CRA's reports don't include the judgment; I can't speak for the others. It may have aged off, but you haven't shared the relevant details.

Maybe you didn't read my entire post. I don't want a credit report. I figured that the judgement is seprate from my credit report. I wanted to know how I can find out it the judgements (yes plural) are still in effect. Since they didn't show up in my credit report i'm hoping they didn't get renewed after 10yrs but I don't want to assume that and put the car in my name and have them take it.

    Thank you

The most certain way to determine the status of the judgment would be to simply check the court record in the court of jurisdiction. Not all credit reports are equal or accurate.

When you posted, you were asked to title your post with a short version of your question. You asked, "Judgement Not Showing Up on Credit Report Any More". You then asked only one question in your post, "I recently applied for overdraft protection and nothing was on my credit report. Does that mean the judgements aren't there anymore?" If you follow the basic rules of grammar, you know that your reference was again to your credit report. Now you are complaining that your only question was clearly and correctly answered? We're not mind readers - if you ask a question we will attempt to answer the question you ask, not a different question you imagine that you asked.

If you want to check the status of the judgment with the court, inquire with the court.
