My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: NY
It is a story happened to one of my friend.
She rented one room from landlord, and she had to share the common places with landlord's daughter who also lived in same house.
It is not clear that landlord gave a permission to his daughter about managing house or not.
Landlord's daughter always gave other roommates to clean common area and assigned part of the house for cleaning.
When my friend did have a time for cleaning, landlord's daughter talked to my friend.
'If you are not cleaning where you assigned, your security deposit will be deducted.'
Someday another landlord's daughter, who was not living in that house, brought two dogs to house, and my friend ask landlord's daughter, who is living in the house, to remove the dogs.
But she said she can not do anything about these two dogs because they are belong to another daughter.
Those two dogs were not leashed and they were chasing my friend, and one of them bite her foot and leave small wound.
After that happen, my friend got mad and slammed her room door. But the door did get any damage. Then landlord's daughter, who is living in the house, threaten again about security deposit deduction.
In this case, Can my friend sue landlord's daughter?
