My question involves a condominium located in the State of: Fort-Lauderdale Florida
I own a condo. I fell behind on my maintenance fees by 3 months. My account was sent to there attorney. The attorney sent me a letter saying I owe $1,197.50 and I had by April 5 for them to receive the payment. On April 5th, I walked into the management office, and submitted a check for $1,197.50. I received a letter from the Attorney on April 13th that payment has not been received and they have added an additional $1,238.16 in attorney fees. I went to the management office and ask them what happen to the payment I gave them on April 5th. They expained to me that the checks they receive gets sent out at the end of the month. No one told me this when they accepted my check. They never made an attempt to contact the law firm that they did receive a payment from me. I wrote the attorney and submitted a copy of the stamped and dated check that the office recieved the check on the 5th. The Law firm never mentioned anything about the copy of the check, all they wrote about is the additional money I owe them. I am willing to take this matter to court, but I dont really know where to start and do I have a valid case.
