The Hollywood, Fl. police explorer program is open to students that are at least 14 years of age. You must submit to a background check and not have an arrest record. A simple Google search found this. I'm pretty sure you would not qualify.

A felony conviction will be a statutory bar to employment in law enforcement. Even if expungement is an option, any prospective law enforcement employer will look into the details of your arrest and conviction and will evaluate it very carefully. Your offense is a crime of moral turpitude and also one where you actively assaulted an officer while an adult.

To stand a chance, you need to get any felonies reduced to misdemeanors and your ability to possess firearms restored, and you will have to put a lot of time and good works between you and the offense. I'd say a MINIMUM of five years ... likely more. A college education and gainful employment will serve well to show that you have changed and are intelligent and responsible.

Oh, and stay away from alcohol ... no parties, drunken gatherings, etc. I have found that alcohol can be the greatest cause of failure in these situations. All it will take is one police contact at a drunken party, brawl, argument, etc. for five years of good works to be eliminated.
