My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Massachusetts

I was recently collecting unemployment. When i went to file for my tier 1 extension they said there is an issue. The employer submitted i was discharged. I guess when i originally filed they did not submit anything. I was told i have to wait for an adjuster to sort it out.

I worked as a sales person at a furniture store. I was great at my job and many months ranked in the top 10% percent for sales. They have on average 40 employees on sales. I had 2 bad months in the last quarter of the year. I fell in the bottom 10% for 2 months in a row.

Several factors were the reason for this. I had 2 people near to me pass away before there time. I took a few personal days each month for this. Days i accumulated. I put in for extra days to work but was not approved for the majority. Also a lot of the senior sales people (20) were grandfather in to 5 day work weeks. More work days is more chances to make sales.Noobies like myself had 4 day weeks and we had to put in for.more which we sometimes got.

I did not want to leave the job, no misconduct. I liked my job and people there liked me. They let people go and hire new sales people regularly. Im aware of someone else who has been let go for low numbers as well. i seeked out advice on improving my numbers, i put in for extra work days and made my employer aware of the death of the people in my life.

Will i lose my benefits?
