Liens and Merging Companys

My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: New York

I'm purchasing a vehicle but there is a lien on it. The company that was holding the lien was taken over by another with a different name. The letter stating that the lien was paid off is from the new one but the title has the name of the old on on it. In the letter it doesn't say anything about a merge or changing names. Is this going to be a problem or will it be ok?

If you're asking whether the DMV is going to accept proof that a lien has been satisfied, submitted in proper form, from the owner of the lien, I expect so. It will not be the first time the DMV has encountered the sale of a loan or lien.

If you're asking if the actual documentation you have is adequate, I'm not in a position to answer.
