My question involves business law in the state of: New York


I want to know what type of contract should I prepare for this type of business scenerio:

I'm partnering up with a partner to create a new TV Show pilot for a celebrity. I was thinking of starting a new production company with my partner to lessen the complications. !) What type of production contract should I sign?

In addition, we are going to invest some money into the pilots to get Executive Director credits for the show. Now my question is...what type of contract should we sign with the celebrity? Need something to back us up in case it gets picked up by a network.

What are you talking about? A "partnership" agreement for the new production company detailing your respective rights and duties as partners / shareholders / members?

If you're getting into TV production and need contracts to use with TV networks and celebrities, you need to retain an entertainment lawyer and have your lawyer provide you with some suitable form contracts and periodic work to tailor clauses to particular cases or clients. If you're inclined to try to draft your own contracts you can use a professional resource like West Publishing's Entertainment Law, 3d: Legal Concepts and Business Practices as a starting point (I'm not recommending any particular book, just providing an example) - but check to see if you can find them in a law school library (you can probably get a day pass) because they're very expensive.
