My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: IL
I got into a car accident near the intersection of Diversey/Damen Ave/Clyborn. I was in the left turn only lane on Diversey waiting to make a left onto Damen, when I realized this wasn’t the turn I wanted to make.
I turned my right turn signal on and was waiting for an opening to merge back onto Diversey (2 Lane Rd). There was an opening and I proceeded to enter the left lane of the 2 lane road. The car (which I collided with) was in the right lane on Diversey and quickly changed to the left lane when the car in front of her breaked to slow down. So when I merged onto the left lane, the car from the right lane quickly merged to the left lane as well.
Who would be at fault in this situation? I believe the left turn lane and regular lanes were divided by a solid white line, would this be relevant in determining who would be at fault?
Thanks for your help!
