Default Unemployment Claim is Under Appeal After Relocating to Be with My Family

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: CA

My family lives in CA and I have worked in FL for the past year. I quit the FL job and took a short term position with another company working from home in CA. That assignment was completed in 3 weeks. I eventually applied for UI though there is a chance I could have gone back to FL I did not want to leave my family again. To close out the job I did sign a paper noting that I voluntarily quit and I did not try to work with the company because it did not seem working from home was a continued option.
My claim in now being denied and UI is asking for the return of funds along with a penalty. I also feel I inadvertantly gave conflicting information on a phone interview purely out of frustration.

Your claim was denied, you are now appealing, and... what's your question?
