How to Move a Custody Case to a Different State and County

I have remarried and moved to CA. My son came with me. My ex and I have a parenting plan filed with the courts in WA. She has agreed to allow him to stay with his dad till he is done with school in CA. She has given me the ok to move the case from WA to CA. We had a temporary agreement between the 2 of us that if it didn't work out we would go back to the original parenting plan. This temporary plan covered visitations along with splitting certain items that the child will need.
I have 2 questions. The first one is how do I go about starting the process of getting all this moved. My goal is that the court now sees me as the custodial parent.
The other question is child support. When in WA I was paying her. Now I have for the most part full time custody and she has paid anything. I know this will be the biggest hassle of all this. Can I change the parenting plan/child support at the same time.
Is there any where I can go to get the forms to begin filling them out?

The process of getting the new state to take jurisdiction is through filing a UCCJEA (Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Enforcement Act) petition. That can be a bit tricky, although I expect you'll be able to find some example petitions online. Many people choose to get help from a lawyer.

You can petition a court to modify both custody and child support. You'll find a lot of forms and information here, and you can also talk to your county's family law facilitator.
