I had been unemployed for the past two years but I have just found a job. I was notified last fall that there is a Lien against me for tax years 2007 - 2009 in the amount of about $6000 for not paying my taxes.......went through a nasty divorce, had a nervous breakdown.....blah blah. I have been avoiding dealing with this as there was no money coming in. Well I get my first paycheck next week. I have every intention of contacting the IRS now and clear this up. I would like to bank a couple paychecks so I can pay them a reasonabe amount in one shot. My first question is do I have a month or two to bank some money then contact the IRS or should I go ahead call them now? I just don't want them attaching my whole pay or a major portion of it initially as I have other bills to clear up as well as living expenses. The second question is I don't suppose I can keep this away from my employer?
