Do I Qualify for Unemployment

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: New York

I am working at a university where I am a 10 month employee. I did receive a contract for next year however throughout the year I worked at another place part time. Am I allowed to collect unemployment from my part time employee since I am not receiving a pay check from my full time employer?

You do not receive unemployment "from" any employer. Unemployment benefits are paid by the state from a fund that is established and created by taxes paid by the employer and based on a percentage of their payroll. Your benefit is based on all your wages from all employers in the look-back period, not by just one.

Apply for unemployment. Tell the truth about any work you are doing for the one employer and why you are no longer working for the other employer. The worst that can happen is that they say no and if they say no, you are no worse off than if you didn't apply in the first place. There is no penalty for being wrong and it costs nothing but a little time.

As a University employee, you can apply, but you're probably not going to get it because you have a contract for the next academic year. Don't have hurt feelings if you find out you get nothing. I've seen a fair number of unfair decisions when "school employment" is involved.
