Default A New Passport Ready 1800 Mile Away

U.S. abroad based uncooperative administrations !

    Hello all,

I renewed my passport abroad a year ago I was contacted by our U.S. Consulate: "new one is ready"
Now I live in country located in Europe and find myself unable to go to that consulate to pick it up (1800 miles from my new home).
would there be a way to transfer that passport in consulate closer to my home ?

I sent 2 emails to our consulate explaining the situation and suggesting them to transfer my new passport to a closer U.S. in consulate in Lyon in France or Geneva in Switzerland less than 2 hours drive
from my new home. (at my own expenses)

They answered me "Just take it here yourself or send someone with a written document to replace you and pick it up.

No sense and with no desire to be wise or to help, my passport will be still as distant.

    Any advice please ?

You were told you can grant somebody authority to collect the passport on your behalf. Why are you grousing here instead of taking that simple step?

How about that! I did not think there could be a solution as simple as that !

Find someone to take my passport 1800 miles from where I live, join him at the door of the consulate end then fly back... or better yet bring him/her to Europe to give me my passport in person and send him/her back home .

I find it hard to recognize that the expensive services of that consulate have demonstrated a lot of common sense with some good will to represent their citizens abroad.

    Thank you Sir

Are you being willfully obtuse? Or are you actually that dense? Have your friend pick it up - as the Consulate has already said you can do - and have him FedEx it to you. Shazam, the nice lady in the white truck will bring the envelope right to your door, no need for your friend to fly to France.

So what in the seven blazing hells do you expect a bunch of internet strangers to do about it?

All you have done here is moan and complain because you don't like the answers you've been given. This might come as a surprise to you, but the volunteers of this forum are not in charge of the law, neither are they responsible for the policies and procedures of the US Consulate.

Certainly! I asked the consulate to send my passport with UPS or FEDEX services.

Their answer: "It is forbidden for us to send a U.S. passport by mail to a foreign country"

I am not really surprised by some of the answers of some volunteers on this forum but sometimes I kind of find them a bit fanciful and caustic.

As for me and if this may satisfy you I agree that there is still work to do.

    Thank you for your outspoken

Honestly, if you aren't intentionally trying not to understand the very simple instructions you've been given - if you're truly not capable of understanding that your agent can mail the passport to you by any means you choose - I'm amazed that you haven't shorted out your keyboard with drool.

You're worse than a waste of time - you're an obnoxious waste of time.
