I wrote a bad check, but made restitution. Do I have a criminal record?
Four years ago I wrote a check that bounced and became a bad (very bad) check. After digging myself out of a financial hole more than a year later, I made full restitution to the merchant. I was never contacted by any law enforcement authorities (but then again, I have since moved), but I want to make sure that I have no criminal record. Since I'd like to make a job change soon, I'd like to get this information before any prospective employer sees it.
I know how to pull my credit file (where this check now shows as a debt paid), but I just want to find out if I have a criminal history (pending charges, warrants, etc.) as a result of my own foolishness. Any advice?
Thanks.
