    Default Double Garnishment

My question involves judgment recovery in the State of: Michigan

A law firm issued a writ of garnishment to my bank last week for $800 which was deducted and payed out of my savings. Today I received a letter in the mail from my employer stating they are withholding monies from my check for the exact same thing and amount! This debt has been payed and they are still taking my money! What do I do!?

If the $800 satisfied your judgment debt, ask the judgment creditor to file a satisfaction of judgment and release the additional funds.

If necessary, you can bring a motion in the court that issued the garnishment orders.

They did what's called a blanket and filed writs of garnishment against my credit union and employer...both are withholding funds but don't cut a check to the collection agency until 28days...so as of right now I'm out almost $1600 because funds are being held on both sides. Once the collection agency receives payment they will reimburse me anything over the $800 but can't tell me when...sounds fishy to me.
