My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Missouri, Virginia
I was found guilty of driving while intoxicated in Missouri. My only sentence was to complete a SATOP (substance abuse traffic offense program), i.e. no suspended imposition of sentence or probation. This means that I'll be able to get a valid Missouri driver's license soon, and be done with it as far as Missouri is concerned.
I'd like to move to Virginia, however Virginia's first time offense for DUI requires that your license be suspended for 1 year. If I move to Virginia after restoring my Missouri license, will I be able to get a Virginia license? I'll have served my sentence, but still be within the one year from the date of the offense. Another potential complication is that I was convicted for a BAC over .15, which is Excessive in Virginia and I believe requires an ignition interlock device. Would I be required to have this by Virginia?
When Missouri reinstates my license, they will reduce the number of points on my license to four.
