Failure to Yield to Left Turn

My question involves a traffic accident in the State of: Utah

While riding my motorcycle with a group of two other riders we were stopped at an intersection waiting to turn left (southbound). This was downtown and traffic was bad due to an event. When our light turned green, there were still (SB) cars blocking the eastbound travelers from crossing the road who had filled the intersection trying to make the light. Since they were blocking oncoming (EB) traffic for us, we proceeded to turn left into an open(SB)lane. We could see the stopped eastbound traffic letting us through since they were currently unable to move, the first rider completed the turn, I was next and following closely to him when one of the eastbound drivers decided to go around traffic while we were still completing our turn, knowingly seeing us, and accelerating from a stop, without braking or swerving the driver deliberately hit me mid turn and caused me to crash my motorcycle. I was relatively uninjured. I was cited failure to yield on a green light, yet the situation was a bit more complex than that at the time. The officer said my story made sense and he would have made the same turn seeing that it was safe. The other driver wasn't given any ticket regardless of the fact the they deliberately drove right into me. An accident very easily avoided considering the slow speed everyone was moving. Now the driver is holding me accountable for repairs to their vehicle, even though the damages to my bike are far worse.

Do I have a chance at fighting the ticket in court? Or even at having her insurance cover damages to my motorcycle given they willing drove right into me?

You chose to run a red light so, even if the court is sympathetic, if they want you on that one they have you on that one. You can see if the prosecutor will offer you a deal, or hope that the officer doesn't appear.

I am skeptical that this person deliberately drove into you. If you want to try to make a claim for damages with her insurance, you can do exactly that. (Or, if you have collision coverage on your own policy, you can make a claim that way and leave it to them to try to subrogate, if they think she's at fault.) If a claim doesn't work out, you can also consider small claims court.

Sorry for any confusion but, I wasn't running a red light. I was on road A facing east wanting to turn left onto road B (SB). Traffic from road B had filled the far right lane heading SB so that travllers heading east from road A couldn't safely pass. When our light turned green (road A) it was safe for us to all turn into an open lane on the SB road B. It was upon us doing that, when the driver heading east from road A went into an oncoming traffic lane to navigate around the cars blocking the path, yet not line of sight, and proceeded to drive directly into me not slowing, swerving or anything to avoid a collision. I have been told there is a law about reckless endangerment as well as failing to slow to avoid an accident. Since the situation had physically changed by the time police had arrived, I was cited for failing to yield to green. I am hoping my given statement will offer a little more insight to the situation and have the ticket placed on me removed showing I had safe passage to travel while they did not, resulting in a deliberately caused crash. I watched that driver accelerate off the line, looking directly at me while they hit me. Their excuse for doing so was, " I thought you would get out of my way" as if I wasn't trying to do so....
