Who Chooses Unborn Son's Future Last Name

My question involves name change laws in the State of: Arkansas.
I am 36wks pregnant and I have heard different stories on if I can put my fiance's last name on our son. Some say that he has to sign an paper stating that he is the father while others say that I have to put my last name on him. What is the law? Can I put my fiance's last name on our son without any other papers? Do I have to get a DNA test before they will allow it? Or can I put any last name on him that I choose?

You can put any last name you want on the birth certificate - his, yours, your next door neighbor's.

Agreed. I just told someone else... you can name your child MICKEY MOUSE and give him the last name MOUSE. There are no legal requirements on how you name your child.

Just be aware, at the hopsital they will refer to your child as BABY BOY (Your Last Name). This is for identification purposes only. This is not the last name the baby will leave the hospital with.
