Who Should Pay Travel Costs to a Parent's Wedding

Now the ex wants me to pay for the kids to go to his wedding next year. Firstly it's not his visitation time at all. Secondly it's not my responsibility to pay for them to go (he's in MO we're in WA) He's now threatening to take me back to court cause I won't pay for it. They can go but hr needs to pay the travel expenses it's HIS wedding not mine! Who's right?

He might stand a chance at getting the parenting time for a special occasion.

It's not likely that you'll be paying for transportation though...although stranger things have happened. You could be ordered to pay half. Or none. Or even all.

Nobody here can guarantee you a "yes" or "no" answer in court.

He can have the time that's not what he's mad about he's mad I won't pay for it and I don't think I should have to. It isn't my responsibility.

Doesn't your order address how travel costs are to be paid or divided? I would expect such a provision given the distances involved.

That was addressed a few weeks ago with visitation times. He's responsible for costs back to me and I'm responsible for costs there during visitation times which are clearly laid out in our agreement. His wedding doesn't fall under that. The kids are in school that week first and foremost secondly this is an additional time that he wants. I'm not paying for extra stuff regardless of what the event may be. I pay for school, sports, extra curricular activities etc. on my own. He has paid for sports (half of it) 2 times in 3 years and my kids are in activities all year round. He can pay for the costs associated with his wedding in his own. That's extra time and not something in our written parenting plan. The entire thing needs to be modified but that's a whole nother issue
