Default What Evidence to Police Need to Obtain a Search Warrant

My question involves police conduct in the State of: CT

If the police suspect someone is selling heroin what evidence do they need to have or what must they do to obtain a search warrant ? And if it is a rental property can the landlord simply give the police permission to search the premises ?

They don't even generally need "evidence" in the form that most people think of evidence. They only need to establish to the judge that probable cause exists to issue the warrant - and in drug cases, that often comes in the form of tips, especially tips from established credible sources or with specific information.

Generally, no, a landlord can't just give police permission to enter or search.

Gee, why sell pot? That's the ticket, go for the worst and most addictive drug there is. Yea, go for a class one narcotic that will get you life in prison. Go for the drug that has the smallest market, yet the most violent market. Yea, that's the ticket. Throw your life away in every sense of the word.

And you are worried about going to jail? You are going to prison for a long time, just a question of how quickly. Someone you sold to is probably a police informant. The police get a warrant. That's it. Someone who is not a police informant you have soldl to gets busted for something, maybe possession and needs something to trade, needs something to deal with. You the heroin dealer are a perfect trade for a deal.

I have seen warrants issued in less then ten minutes in drug cases. Sleep tight.

Agreed. There's a REASON why people get called "narcs" - cause when your buyers are facing time behind bars, guess who they are going to offer up to authorities. Pack light.

Look at this way. All the police need for a search warrant is a customer.
