How Many Points for Driver's License Penalties

My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Michigan

How many points do you need to have anything done to you license in Michigan. ie. suspension and restriction

Read this. I'm surprised you got a license without stumbling across it. The specific part you're looking for starts at page 37, but I suggest reviewing the entire handbook.

I did see this online but it still didn't shed any light on what I want to know. I want to know if what a friend of mine has told me is true. He said if you have two tickets for one date that they only count the points on for the charge with the most points. I don't know if this is true or not.

Not "one day" but the same incident. If they write you up for reckless driving and speed, the points aren't additive, you only get the highest one (6 points for the reckless). If you get caught speeding and are given a ticket and then go out and run a stop sign and get another ticket, both count.

From MCL 257.320a

(5) If more than 1 conviction, civil infraction determination, or probate court disposition results from the same incident, points shall be entered only for the violation that receives the highest number of points under this section.
