Default Retailer Makes Mistake on Receipt - Says I Never Paid

My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Idaho

I made a significant furniture purchase that was a custom order in which I paid cash as well as plastic.

Company says it never received any cash and is refusing to communicate with me. I have an eye witness who was with me and saw me hand the cash to them.

    What are my options?

Option number one is to show them your receipt. You do have a receipt that you paid with a credit card and then the remainder of the balance in cash, don't you?
I'm not a lawyer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.......

    No...
That's where the mistake comes in. The cash is not displayed on the receipt as received.

I handed the salesman the cash and the order was placed for that reason or they wouldn't have ordered it due to the 50% down on order.

They are saying they didn't get it but I have an eye witness as to me handing them the cash.

Should I file a police report or stolen cash as well?

I understand the mistake on my part for not reading the receipt thoroughly, I have been a 20 year customer.

Well without a receipt you will have to sue them civilly. You will need to bring your witness to court as well as any bank documentation that you had taken out XXX on a particular date and the judge will determine who is more credible, your witness and you, or the company.

the last post is correct except,

this is a mistake on both your part and theirs, first their machines are obviously having issues, second and this is the biggest issue *REVIEW YOUR RECIEPTS BEFORE YOU WALK AWAY FROM THE TELLER
this is the biggest thing, most if not all issues in this aspect could have been solved when you where their originally and checked your receipt, I don't leave the line until i have checked to make sure all my receipts are correct, people make mistakes but unless caught soon if not directly after they happen its hard to fight them.

if you do take them to court which is suggested, first bring the witness, also subpeana for the security footage of the day in question you might have issues with this but your local police department or city office may be able to instruct you on the process to get this information. you do have to know the time and day and the area, they can only give you the tape that is needed, anything else can get them in trouble.
