My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: CA
I broke a rule on the lease agreement that the head tenant made up stating that there will be no drug users in the house. I did not smoke the weed or anything but i had it in my possession from a friend who forgot to take it out of my car. The "head tenant" who leases the house from the landlord created a household agreement stating that he is the head tenant and has the power to enforce the rules and if any of the rules are broken he will take all of the security deposit. I thought this was unfair as the lease also has many other rules like no slippers or shoes in the house etc and how he has the power to revise the list. I only signed the agreement because i already paid him the rent and security deposit and already moved all my stuff in. I do not believe any other formal documents were signed and the household lease agreement was the only thing i have signed. I also caught him breaking the lease agreement as well by stealing our food without consent, but i am in no position to do anything because he has the authority. What can i do and is the contract binding? Thank you
