Charged with Marijuana Possession

My question involves criminal law for the state of: NJ

Hi.
I am 21 years old attending part-time community college.

I just have been charged with less than 50grams of MJ

Possession: (N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10a)

Possession of 50 grams or less of marijuana is considered a disorderly persons offense (misdemeanor) in New Jersey. If convicted, there is a jail term of up to 6 months, a fine of up to $1,000.00, a DEDR Penalty of $500.00 and a Drivers License Suspension of between 6 months and 2 years.

Possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana is a 4th degree crime (felony) and carries a jail term of up to 18 months, a fine of up to $25,000.00, a $750.00 DEDR Penalty, and a Drivers License Suspension of between 6 months and 2 years.

If convicted of possession of marijuana within 1000 feet of a school there is an additional sentence of at least 100 hours of community service.

I'm calling the lawyers tomorrow but I want to hear some advice/experience from the members..
I am freaking out because I've never been involved with police... I only had less than 2 grams.. Would the judge take this into account?
Also, aside from my full-time job, I am receiving scholarship and state grant (financial aid), I already filled out my application for next year and right now I'm only charged, not convicted yet.

What should I do??

Listen to the lawyer. "Only two grams" isn't going to mean much to the judge because will assume you had more to start with.
The lawyer will be able to tell whether you can get into a pretrial intervention or drug court which will avoid the stigma of a drug conviction.
You will be drug tested in this program DON'T SCREW IT UP.

I was just recently got caught with about .7 grams of marijuana some papers and a fake cigarette thing that was my friends in a state park. We were just about to smoke when 2 rangers ran up on us. He threw what we had. They could smell it but we didn't have anything on us. He asked to search my car. I agreed to it. He found what I said above. My friend was basically pissing them off saying they didn't do the correct things. They put the stuff in a paper bag, sealed it. Told me I was welcome back to the park because I was honest and that my friend wasn't welcome there again. They told me I would receive summons a while from now. They let us go. What would they charge me with? How long will this take? And most important will I receive an SIS being that this is my first offense. I am currently 19 years old.
