Ticket for Expired Tabs

My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of: Washington

I received a ticket for having expired tabs while parked in a parking garage. It was tucked under my winshield wiper when I got off the ferry. I had already renewed my vehicle registration online and had selected the option to have the tabs waiting for me at the local DOL contractor's office, so I wouldn't have to risk not getting them in the mail in time. I blew it and forgot to pick them up (they had been sitting there two weeks at the time- yikes!). The kids helped clean out the car that weekend, and I haven't seen the ticket since. I don't think it was a lot of money, and I had planned to just pay it to avoid having to take a day off work to explain why the new stickers weren't on the vehicle. Now, I don't even know if it's too late for that! The ticket was issued on April 11. Can you tell me if I can still pay it? Would that be the best option for my record (which is clean), or would there be value to going to court and contesting?

You should contact the court and ask how to pay it. Your time is likely running out or may have already run out to keep from having to pay more for not responding. It is not a moving violation, so you probably don't have to worry about increased insurance, etc. However, failing to take care of it could result in a license suspension.
