Default What Do You Owe a Driver After Hitting His Car

My question involves insurance law for the state of: Pennsylvania

    Hello,

I clipped a car pulling out of a driveway at work today, got a quote of about $400 from the body shop for repairs to my car. The accident was my fault and I am wondering if I am liable for any compensation or otherwise to the other driver. His damage is surprisingly minimal (baseball-sized ding on passenger rear door).

I have insurance on the vehicle, but I am not an authorized driver (its my mom's car). The registration is also lapsed.

Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated!!

You certainly are. If he reports it to his insurance company (or choses to come after you himself) you can expect to hear about it.
Unless you are specifically excluded from coverage, mom's insurance ought to cover it as long as you either live at home or this was just casual use.

The other driver seemed 'cool' about it at the time given the minor damage to his vehicle.

Is it going to be a problem that I am not listed on the insurance card for her vehicle?

Also, what role will the car's registration play in this matter?

Sorry for asking again, but I have never been in an accident, and the other driver didn't take my insurance info.. although I gave him my contact info.

The registration probably doesn't much matter (although it MIGHT give the insurer some weasel especially on damage to YOUR vehicle, but they probably still are on the hook for the liability).
If they come after you, you need to get the insurer involved. In fact, you should have already reported it to them.

You owe for damages as well as rental for the time the vehicle is being repaired. Just remember an initial estimate is typically just a visual inspection, so while it may only be $400 now it could be more $$$ if subsequent damages are found, also prolonging his or her rental.
