My question involves an easement in the state of:Connecticut
Sorry quick back story here:
I was told that there's a farmers easement in the back of my house which goes from my next door neighbor and a neighbor 4 houses down. Back in the 1900's those 2 houses were farms. the land was sold in 1950's and 3 houses were built but the easement is in place leaving a 15' wide path from the 2 houses. Behind the path is a 40' drop. Of course this was 60+ years ago now and the area is now a city. There's no farming going on and if someones in my back yard 911 would be called.
Today's dilemma:
When I bought the house there was a shed on the 'easement' that is was mine though I was told (By my 80 year old neighbor whose was born in the house...) the property wasn't mine... I want to put up a fence but that will cause the easement to be blocked due to the shed. My question is, would town hall have information on this 'easement', how hard would it be to get it removed and purchase that small piece of land from the current owner? (they have 8 acres and on the edge of their line. As a side note, the shed and the section of land I take care of, I doubt the owners even know that's their land. Thanks for your info.
