Who Gets a Child's SSI If He Stops Living With You Before Age 18

If you're getting SSI for a child under 17 and he is in High School and decides he only wants to go 1/2 time student because that's all the needs. Do you lose SSI for him or do you lose it when he decides to move out. Or if he decides to go to college in Jan and still lives with you, do you still get that for him?

Does he get SSI for his own disability, or SSDI as dependent benefits? How old is the child?

Again, I think you are confused about terms. Do you have a disabled child who gets SSI (Supplemental Security Income)? Or do you have a child getting auxilliary Social Security benefits on a disabled, deceased or retired parent's record?

School attendance has zero affect on SSI entitlement. Social Security can be paid if an 18 year old is still in high school. The payee is generally the responsible adult, although a 17 year old could be considered emancipated.
