Transfer from E3 to Tourist Visa

I'm currently in states on E3 with employment ending soon. I-94 expires October. Can I file form I-539 to transfer status from E3 to tourist visa? I don't see the E3 listed under the visas available for transfer anywhere..

You can apply for a change of status from E3 to B1/B2, but you should expect that to take sixty to ninety days to process, and it's difficult to see how it would provide you with a significant advantage.
