Default How Do I Confirm That the Court Received Proper Documents from My Lawyer

My question relates to legal practice in the state of: Virginia

I'll try to make a long story short.

I was supposed to complete a driver improvement course and submit the certificate of completion to the court before my court date. If I don't, my case will not be dismissed and that could be very bad. My lawyer told me to bring the certificate to him and his secretary would file it with the court. So I contacted the secretary who says she filed it with the court last week. My court date is approaching and there is nothing showing that my case has been dismissed. There are only a few days left. What should I do to insure that the court has received the certificate and will be dismissing my case before the court date? I feel like I can't trust my lawyer. I would have felt better if I could have taken the certificate to court myself.

If something has been received and processed by the courts, that will be reflected both in the court's calendar entries for the case and in the court file itself.

Should I call the court and see if they received the certificate? I've been checking everything through the online court system, but nothing has been updated.

If you want to speak to a clerk to confirm what is or is not in the file, you would need to contact the clerk by phone or in person.
