Default What Happens in the Case of Safe Haven Law Type Adoption and Reunions

My question involves adoption law for the State of: I believe nevada
This question is for a friend/ex

I was wondering in southern nevada if a woman leaves her child who is a newborn at a hospital would her family ever be able to have contact with that child when it's an adult. She was anonomous so they have no connections to her and the baby. But her son wants to late know his sister... She had it premature so it's always probably going to be in the family's mind if she did or did not make it out of infancy etc... Anyway in 18 years could her siblings try to get in contact is it possible to reunite a family lost through a safe haven adoption?

If the child is adopted, without proof of parenthood (motherhood), who would even know the child was related? It would quite literally be looking for the proverbial needle in not just a haystack, but a country filled with haystacks.

Regardless, adoptions of that nature are generally closed. The most the family members (who are not family members, remember) could wish for is that the adopted child reaches out to one of the many reunion/search services.

They're all legal strangers to one another.

Call the adoption unit of the local DCFS/CPS unit. If you can determine which agency handled the adoption, you can write a letter including medical information and a request to know if the child is alive/doing well. Most adoptive parents would love to get family medical history. Whether or not they are willing to have contact with you is 100% up to them.
