Does Enlisting in the National Guard Result in Emancipation

This is probably a case not seen here too often.
Im an e3 in the National Guard. I go to basic in 2 months and am 17. I have a job with enough money to support myself and 3,000$ in savings roughly. On top of college being paid for mostly by Army
Ive been told a few times being enlisted means Im emancipated and have even read in some states thats the case. In North Carolina is that the case? Once in basic Ill be paid fill time for 10 weeks and vome back to finish my class for highschool. I turn 18 in October and overall Im tired of my parents taking my $ constantly.

No, North Carolina appears to not be one of those states where military entrance is automatic emancipation. You can certainly try using that and the self support as justification, but frankly it will likely take more than 2 months. If you're going on active duty after basic, the issue is likely moot anyhow. Your parents obviously approved your entry into the guard. If you're not going on active duty, then even in the states that allow those in the military to emancipate I'm not sure Reserve/NG qualifies.

Emancipation from active duty military service comes from having the government take over as your de facto parent. Ohio, for example, considers minors to be emancipated while they're on active duty, but if they go off of active duty before they turn 18 they're right back under parental control.

What money is being taken from you? You can keep your wages from them....

I expect that he's alluding to a parent's common law right to the services (and proceeds of the services) of their minor child. I have not investigated to see if North Carolina has modified that right. Perhaps he's referring to his parents charging him for room and board - neither of which they would have to provide if he were vested with the full rights of an adult.
