Default How Long Does it Take a Court to Process a Satisfaction of Judgment

My question involves judgment recovery in the State of: South Carolina, Greenville County

Hi I live in the state of South Carolina. I paid for a judgment back in 2011 and the creditor said they have sent out a letter to courthouse to release this judgment. Come 5 months later I found out that the law firm that was supposed to send this satisfaction out went bankrupt, so the satisfaction was never sent out. I called the creditor and they forward the court records to another law firm. The new law firm supposedly overnighted the satisfaction to the court on Wednesday 4/4/2012. I checked with courthouse yesterday 4/5/2012 and the release still has not been processed or recorded. They are closed today so I cannot check with them. My question is normally how long will it take the courthouse to record the release on their system? I am asking because I will be closing on a house next week and this needs to be taken care of before I can sign the mortgage papers.

TL;DR : How long does it take to the court to release a judgment (recorded on their system as released) after receiving the satisfactory documents?

It depends upon whether the document is received in proper form, whether the file has been archived, whether key people are in the office or are away for some reason (illness, holiday, etc.), the general congestion of the court's docket.... Also, sometimes documents are misplaced, misrouted or lost.

In an efficient court it could be received and entered within a day; in an inefficient court... I can't say.

Highly doubt this would get resolved all the way through to your credit report by next week. Best to call them and have the release faxed to you as well and take to closing. This MAY satisfy the lender for closing.

OK thx for help. I'll contact them to send me a copy either by fax or email....probably gonna take that copy to the courthouse and see what they can do.
