Talking What is the Easiest Way for Changing My Daughter's Name to My Married Name

My question involves name change laws in the State of: North Carolina

I just recently got married and my husband wanted my daughter to take his last name. We were trying to figure out the simplest way of going about this. There is no father on the birth certificate. It just seems like every time I get close to an answer I just go right back to the beginning in trying to figure this out. Please help us.

    Thank you for your time.

Depends on how old the child is.

One way is for your husband to adopt your daughter.
If there is no father listed on the birth certificate and no paternity subsequently established, and the child is at least a year old, you can petition for the name change. Application is made to the clerk of the superior court in the county the child resides. The procedure varies slightly by county, you should call your clerk and ask.

Thank you for responding. What is the adoption process?
