I just recieved a letter from John Wiley & Sons Inc. stating that I was selling a E-Book on Ebay that infringes Wiley's copyright. I didn't know that the E-Book that I put up for auction is a pirate. I ceased selling the E-Book when Ebay closed my auction for the copyright violation. Two weeks later I recieve the letter from Wiley. How can I resolve this? The letter did contain a resolution letter, which I can sign. By signing that letter, I agree to 1) cease making, distributing and offering for sale any of the Wiley works. 2) to provide Wiley with records of the participants in the sale and/or distribution of unauthorized copies of Wiley's works. 3) if I ever infringe another Wiley work in the future, I will pay $5000 for each copy. and 4) pay Wiley $100. Would signing this letter be the easiest way to resolve this without a lawsuit hold up against me?
Of all the E-Books I could list on Ebay, I chose to listed Wiley's work.![]()
Thanks for your suggestions.
