Default Goverment Military Contract Employee Billed for Medical Screening

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Virginia

I was a military contractor for Iraq, part of my requirements before going to Iraq were too getting a health check up and dental before being deployed to Iraq. I was told to go to the dentist that the company used.

Currently I no longer work for the company, and I just got a phone call from the dentist saying i owe them money, I called up the company and they admitted it fell threw the cracks and they are trying to work on it. The Dentist are saying they are planning to put a collections under my name and basically ruin my credit history if they don't get the money before the end of the month .

Is there anything I could do ? or what should I do?

You can ask your ex-employer how quickly they are going to resolve the situation and, should you pay the bill yourself to protect your credit, whether they will commit (in writing) to reimbursing you for the expense once they figure out the "cracks" in their system.
