Caught Speeding in Northern California, VC 22349(A)

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Northern California
I was over speed and was pulled over and cited for a 22349 (a) speed over 65 mph with radar. According to the citation my speed was 87 mph. I come form Maryland and I am waiting for my ticket. I am willing to pay the fine. However, I don't want to appear in court. So I wonder in this case, would I be asked to appear in court? Or paying the fine will be just fine. Any help will be appreciated.

Usually speeding tickets, including the 15-25mph over range, doesn't require a court appearance. It's going to run about $350 ($70 base fine plus a variety of court fees and penalty assessments) and carries a point. For 1-25mph over, you're automatically approved for traffic school, but I don't know how Maryland handles out of state infractions.

Usually, you are given the ticket at the time of the stop. Do you mean you're waiting for the courtesy notice telling you the fine amount?

Yes. I am waiting for the courtesy notice. Since this is my first time over speeding, I don't know the process and I really don't want to show up in court.

You did say you come from Maryland...
Are you visiting or are you now a resident of California?
Simply asking to see if you're aware of how the California Vehicle Code defines a "resident" is defines for purposes of vehicle registration and or driver's license... If not, please ask and someone will post the related code sections.
