My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
While on parole, my friend obtained a DWI 1st offense, and 4-5 hot check charges. His parole was revoked and he is now serving time in which he will be released in March of 2013. He has recently found out that the county in Texas where he obtained the DWI 1st offense and the 4-5 hot check charges is holding a warrant for his arrest. Said county has put the prison where he is currently incarcerated on notice to detain upon release til a sheriff/deputy can pick him up to face pending charges evolving around said pending warrant. My friend would like to know if he is entitled to obtain a speedy trial in which to be sentenced on pending charges to run at the same time that he is presently serving time.
