Criminal Record I Didn't Know I Had

My question involves criminal records for the state of: Ca.

i applied for a va ccw but the court sent me an affidavit to fill out because they said i answered wrong about my criminal past. the thing is i got in trouble when i was 14 and the charges where dropped, but i guess it says no disposition on the verdict . how do i figure out what is going on? i paid for a nationwide background check and it doesnt show up. what should i put on the affidavit? i dont have any of the paper work from back then and i dont know where to find it.

How do you know the discrepancy was was the result of an alleged criminal offense at 14 in CA? Typically, CA juvenile court records are not available through NCIC/III records searches. Further, an allegation should not have resulted in your denial.

It seems that they might be alleging that you neglected to answer something truthfully. Ask if they can inform you of the exact information that there seems to be a discrepancy in.

I'm curious what their source of that information was ... heck, I couldn't run your name and get that information!

What was the code section?

Could it simply be that they found the record but that you had neglected to mention it? Since it is not a conviction, it should not result in a denial for a firearm ... though the requirements for a CCW might be more strict and not require a conviction.

the paper work says the information i provided doesnt match up with my sheriffs departments info. its says i need to give them the charge against me, case number county and state and the status of the charge. i asked my mom for the paper work and she cant find it and told me to get a hold of the alameda county court system. i dont know who i would call? i dont have a problem getting firearms, i bought a handgun after i dropped off the paper work for the ccw and answered the question the same as i normally would and didnt have any problem.

It sounds like they managed to locate the court case info somewhere.

So, contact the Alameda County Probation Department and speak to someone in the juvenile division. They should be able to find that information as Juv. Probation is the agency that forwards juvenile matters to the court.
