Don't you have a new attorney to handle this? I'd be sure to answer that motion before the deadline. I'd include all documentation of deadlines he missed and other grievances you can document, and ask that his motion be denied.

I'd play hardball and state that not only did he never earn any money, but in fact he damaged you. I'd claim that I was the injured party.

You have to be careful what you put into pleadings in an active case, as the other side gets to see what you (and your ex-lawyer) are saying.
