My question involves criminal law for the state of: California
My dad gave me a van a while ago, and he promised to buy me a new car if I let my sister have the van, so I gave her the keys. As I was about to switch the title of the van, she got a few tickets, and she refused to pay them. So in turn I refused to give her the title. I recently stopped talking to my dad and sister, since they refuse to address the issue. At this point I don't care about the new car my dad promised me, I just want to keep the van. The problem is I don't know where she lives. I'm afraid she might end up ruining my driving record. Is there a way I can get the van back, even though I did agree to let her have it? Nothing was left in writing and the van is still under my name. Can the police do anything? What do you recommend? I would really hate to have to take her to court.
