My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California
I was issued a ticket for Blocking an Intersection (CVC 22526a).
I was driving in a two lane street into an intersection and I saw that traffic was moving steadily and I saw that there was a big gap in front of the cars ahead of me. I therefore moved into the intersection, however, the cars abruptly stopped to let a car that was coming out of a driveway through. The light was still green and cars were coming from from the other lane, preventing me from changing lanes. The that was coming out from the driveway came out and merged onto the other lane the light turned red and the cars ahead of me did not move up even though there was now room. I was blocking the intersection when the cop pulled me over.
I have a clean record and I would like to fight this ticket. I was wondering if there is any defense that would provided me a fighting chance and if it was best to go to the appearance date or write a declaration?
Thank you for any advice you are able to offer me.
