School bill in collections which I cannot afford to pay
In fall of 2005, I started full-time classes at college. I had full financial aid covering my tuition and books. Total cost was $1,800 dollars. Halfway through the semester, my mother was diagnosed with lymphoma and because i had to take care of her, and bring her in and out of doctor's offices and hospitals, my academic progess declined, and I had no choice but to go talk to an advisor. I went to the Student Advisors Office, and i spoke to someone there about my situation and told them i could no longer continue going to my classes so she advised me to withdraw and had me fill out the withdrawal forms. I later on found out that because i had withdrawn, that my financial aid had been canceled and that my tuition bill of $1800 needed to be paid in full. The bill was sent to collections, and just before this summer, i had settled with the collections agency to pay $20 a month. I worked all summer only to pay bills, and daily expenses. I have another medical bill that im paying, and i pay for my own car insurance, gas, and food expenses. I am starting school again this fall, at a different college, and im not getting full financial aid, which means i have to pay for classes and books. $1800 is much to pay for, i dont have that kind of money, nor have i ever seen that kind of money. Is there anything i can do about this. I need this off my chest, i cant pay it. I have to put my money towards my school. Not throw it all away to this collections bill. Pleas, any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
