Missed Court 2 Years Ago for Expired Registration in Illinois

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois

Hi Everyone,
About two years ago, I was pulled over in Will County for expired registration while on my way to the DMV to get it renewed. I renewed it and the next month went to court to see if I could get it dropped since I renewed it 15 minutes after I got the ticket, but I misread the date as being the 19th instead of the 14th. They wanted $70 to reschedule and I didn't have it, so I just forgot about it. It been 2 years now and this year I think I'll actually have money to take care of it since I'm receiving Pell Grants for school and living back at home. My questions are, will I have to reschedule another court date, should I get an attorney, do I have a bench warrant right now, and what kind of punishment am I looking at?

Go to Wills County and ask what you need to resolve it. Most likely your only option is to pay it (and whatever penalties they wish to assess). You were most likely determined to be guilty because you failed to appear.

I'm surprised they let you register again the following 2 years. Most states will make you pay up any pending fines before they will renew your registration. Did you move and register the vehicle in another state?
