    Then what is the statue of limitation-3-4 years?
    He did not borrow money. A purchase of a washer, dryer, tv and other appliances were charged to a major dept store cc in CA, grandson vanished after he picked them up in TX from the dept store. Where does the statue of limitations come in? From the date he took possession?

    The SOL (pertaining to the agreement between Mom and grandson) would generally start ticking the day the first missed payment was due. Given that he never paid at all, that would appear to be over four years ago. With that said, if he's sued, he actually has to raise the SOL as a defense - it's not automatic. If he doesn't know or doesn't turn up, Mom can still obtain an enforceable judgment (though we go back to the practicalities of collecting on such a judgment).

    Yes, the credit card company can come after Mom. The debt is, at the moment, legally hers. The SOL for that transaction hasn't started yet from what you've said.
