Modified Exhaust Ticket in Washington State

My question involves vehicle maintenance laws for the State of: WA

Hi guys I need some help. So I was driving my car which I do not drive often. I drive it every now and then I'd say and was pulled over/ticketed for the cars modified exhaust. I purchased the car with the aftermarket exhaust on it. Since it's not a car I drive regularly I never really had a chance to put a stock one back on. I have attached the discovery form and was wondering if you guy's could help me come up with any arguments to present in court. The discovery form was a few days late getting back to me but I know that is not a very valid argument.

So the officer has calibrated ear drums does he?

Go to an audio shop and have them test the car with a decibel meter. If it is louder than stock you have a problem that might need to be fixed. The law says nothing about how it looks only how it sounds.

You were written up for a defective exhaust but the officer only says it looked modified and it was loud. Take it in to a muffler shop and have them look it over and repair it to quiet it down. Do it before you go to court and bring proof that you did so. I'll bet the judge reduces the fine or even drops it.
