Default How to drop charges
I recently got into an altercation with my partner in South Florida last week and called the police and pressed charges. There is a warrant for his arrest. However, we have made up and I want to drop charges. Is there any way I can plead with the police not to arrest him and drop the charges? what are my options?

You can ask for the charges to be dropped but do not be surprised if the cops still press the charges.

You agreed in writing to press charges; the cops will want to honor your promise.

If there is a warrant for your partner's arrest, then it's a tad late to drop charges. You can contact the District Attorney's office, but don't be surprised if they refuse to recall the warrant. Prosecutors are used to going to court without the active support of the victim since most of them recant or change their mind within 48 hours.

And, let me add, that domestic violence calls result in more harm to police than practically any other kind of call.
